Post-publication
The Andalas Law Journal is committed to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record. To maintain high standards of transparency and accountability, the journal provides mechanisms for post-publication discussions, corrections, retractions, and updates to published work. This policy aligns with the core practice recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For more information, please refer to COPE’s homepage.
Post-publication Discussions
The Andalas Law Journal encourages constructive discussions and critiques of published work. Authors, readers, and researchers are welcome to submit comments, responses, or critiques of published articles.
- Submission of Comments: Comments or critiques on published articles can be submitted to the journal through the editorial office at alj@law.unand.ac.id. The editorial board will review these submissions and, if deemed appropriate, will publish them as letters to the editor or commentary articles.
- Author Responses: The original authors of the discussed article will be allowed to respond to the comments or critiques. Their responses will also be reviewed and, if accepted, published alongside the comments.
Corrections
If errors are identified in published articles that affect the understanding or accuracy of the research, the Andalas Law Journal will issue corrections.
- Types of Corrections: Corrections may involve minor errors (e.g., typographical errors, author name corrections) or significant errors that could impact the interpretation of the research.
- Process for Corrections: Corrections can be requested by the authors or identified by the editorial board or readers. Once a correction is deemed necessary, a correction notice will be published in the next available issue of the journal. The corrected article will be updated online, clearly indicating the correction.
- Transparency: All corrections will be marked in both the print and online versions of the article. The original content that has been corrected will remain accessible, with a note indicating that a correction has been made.
Retractions
In cases where significant issues are identified that undermine the validity of the research, the Andalas Law Journal may retract the article.
- Grounds for Retraction: Retractions may occur due to research misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication), significant errors that cannot be corrected, or ethical breaches.
- Retraction Process: The editorial board will decide to retract an article after a thorough investigation. Authors will be informed of the retraction decision, and the retracted article will be marked as "Retracted" in both the print and online versions of the journal.
- Retraction Notice: A retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction will be published. The original text of the retracted article will remain available online, but it will be clearly labelled as retracted.
Updates and Addendums
In some cases, additional information or data may become available after publication that warrants an update or addendum to the original article.
- Addendums: An addendum is a short update to the original article that provides additional information that complements the original research but does not alter its conclusions. Addendums will be published in the journal and linked to the original article.
- Updates: If substantial new information becomes available that changes the interpretation or conclusions of the original article, an updated version may be published. The updated article will be marked as an update, and the original article will remain accessible with a link to the updated version.
Transparency and Accountability
The Andalas Law Journal is committed to maintaining transparency in all post-publication processes. All corrections, retractions, addendums, and updates will be handled in a manner that ensures the integrity of the scholarly record and informs the academic community.
