Focus and Scope

The Andalas Law Journal is a platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to publish high-quality, original research and insightful review articles in law. We aim to contribute to the global discourse on legal issues by disseminating rigorous and impactful research that addresses the complexities of contemporary legal challenges.

We welcome submissions that explore the spectrum of legal topics, with particular emphasis on the following areas:

  • Criminal and Civil Law: Comprehensive analysis of criminal justice systems, crime prevention, penal policies, civil rights, obligations, property law, and applying civil and criminal law principles across different jurisdictions.
  • International and Constitutional Law: Examination of treaties, international agreements, human rights law, the role of international institutions in global governance, constitutional frameworks, the protection of fundamental rights, and the dynamics of constitutional change.
  • Administrative and Economic Law: Critical studies of public administration, regulatory frameworks, the relationship between government agencies and citizens, and the legal aspects of economic activities, including corporate law, trade regulations, and financial market oversight.
  • Islamic and Adat Law: Scholarly exploration of Sharia principles, their interpretation and application in various legal systems worldwide, alongside studies on customary laws (Adat) and their interaction with national legal systems, particularly in Southeast Asia.
  • Medical and Environmental Law: Examination of legal issues in healthcare, bioethics, patient rights, the regulation of medical practices, and research on legal frameworks for environmental protection, sustainable development, and the legal response to climate change.
